Types of coffee roasts

Legend has it that a goatherd named Kaldi discovered coffee when, taking his goats to the slopes of Abyssinia, he noticed that they behaved in an energetic way after consuming a red fruit that they found in the bushes. Kaldi took some of the cherries to the abbot of the Chehodet monastery, who cooked them and obtained a drink so bitter that he had no choice but to throw it into the fire. When the cherries landed on the hot coals they were roasted and the beans inside the fruits released a delicious aroma.

Latte art, step by step

One of the most pleasing things about visiting a coffee shop is being served a cappuccino with an attractive design on its surface. These decorative patterns, made with foamed milk on top of an espresso, are known as latte art and, although they do not guarantee a better flavor, they are a sure sign of a barista’s attention to detail and desire to serve their customers a visually appealing drink.

Coffee Roasting Date

The roasting date is important for a successful brew. The reason behind this is that freshly roasted beans release gases in a process called degassing, making it difficult for a cup to be prepared immediately after roasting. A timely and sufficient release of the carbon dioxide contained in the beans must take place first.

Not All Plant Milks Are Created Equal

The market for plant-based milks is constantly innovating, but one should first consider what coffee pairings work best with their vegan products. Yes, The Grind Of Your Coffee Beans Matters

Like other adjustable factors in coffee brewing, ground density can affect taste. Key things to consider when adjusting your coffee grinder are brewing method, roast, and bean origin. Brewing methods that involve high heat and pressure for short extraction times call for finer grounds. Other methods involving lower pressure and longer brewing times require a coarser grind. Lighter roasts can be ground finer, while dark roasts work better as coarse grounds. If you’re shopping for a coffee grinder, we recommend a burr grinder as found in De'Longhi Bean to Cup coffee machines.

What Makes Specialty Coffee "Special "

Nowadays, “specialty coffee” is a household name, but it’s not always clear what criteria render the coffee special.

Although specialty coffee is often linked to the rise of the third wave in the early aughts, the term dates back to 1974.  Moreover, while the two terms are often used interchangeably, they’re not mutually exclusive: not all third-wave coffee is specialty and vice versa.
