For a warm afternoon—or indeed any time a craving strikes—pistachio coffee is a good choice. This drink combines the sweet flavors of pistachio and strawberry with the intensity of espresso and a creamy touch of milk.
This iced coffee mix is smooth on the palate. The ice helps to give it a lighter body without losing the richness that the dairy provides. It is a very easy recipe to make at home.
To accentuate the nutty notes of the pistachio look for Medium Roast, Latin American washed Arabica beans.
* 1 double espresso (50 ml / 1.7 fl oz)
* 120 ml (4 fl oz) milk
* 1 tablespoon pistachio essence
* 1 tablespoon strawberry essence
Brew a double espresso directly over ice.
Add ice, the milk, as well as the pistachio and strawberry essences to a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously to mix the ingredients well.
Pour this mixture into a glass and add a few more ice cubes. Carefully pour the coffee over it.
Garnish with a fresh strawberry on the rim of the glass and enjoy.
