The steam circuit has its own dedicated "Instant Heat System"  that means you can froth milk almost immediately after delivering espresso, or vice versa you can deliver perfect espresso immediately after frothing the milk. However the two operations can not be done together due to an higher wattage consumption but the two separate heating system allows you to have the unit always ready.
