Pink Latte

Preparation time: 6 minutes
Difficulty: Medium

Nowadays it is not enough for a drink to be healthy and delicious; it must also be visually appealing. This is dictated by the trends on social networks, where brightly colored and “instagrammable” food photos steal the show. The pink latte, with the striking color that beets lend it, has become very popular as it meets all of these criteria.

It is a drink that contains espresso, milk, beets, cinnamon, honey and vanilla. This latte is not only esthetically pleasing; consumers also appreciate the fact that it is made from natural ingredients that provide health benefits.
Beets are a tuber with a sweet, earthy flavor, rich in iron and vitamins A, C and B8, ideal for the skin and body. They help regulate digestion, reduce blood pressure, improve blood flow and circulation, and delay signs of aging thanks to their high antioxidant content.

Here is a simple recipe for pink latte, both the hot and cold versions.

To round up the smoothness of honey and cinnamon in this recipe, try using a Medium Roast of Arabica beans from any volcanic origin like Kona or Sumatra

Ingredients for 1 serving

* 1 espresso (25 ml / 0.84 fl oz)

* The juice of a beet

* 120 ml (4 fl oz) milk of your choice (whole milk, almond, coconut, etc.)

* 1 teaspoon honey

* ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

* ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

Step 1
In a bowl, mix the milk, beetroot juice, honey, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.

Step 2
Froth the milk.

Step 3
For the hot version: prepare an espresso in a cup and pour the milk & beet mixture over it, allowing a small layer of foam to form, about 1 cm (0.4 in) thick.

Step 4
If you prefer the cold version: pour the milk & beet mixture into a glass over ice. Slowly incorporate the espresso and enjoy.
