Coffee tonic is becoming increasingly popular in coffee shops. The combination of cold coffee with tonic water creates a fizzy, refreshing drink that perfectly blends the sweetness, acidity and bitterness of the tonic with the properties of the coffee bean.
Tonic water is a soft drink made from carbonated water, citric acid, sugar and quinine. It pairs deliciously with a coffee with citrus notes, such as the beans grown in Kenya, lightly roasted to highlight their fruity, floral flavors.
Coffee tonic can be made with espresso, cold brew or iced coffee. Here are the steps to make it according to the V60 technique.
To enhance the stone fruit aromatics, we suggest that you use a Natural Processed Arabica bean with a Light Roast.
Steps to make iced filter coffee
Step 1
Place the paper filter in the filter holder of the V60. If you prefer, you can use an alternative filtering method.
Step 2
Rinse the filter with hot water to remove the papery taste.
Step 3
Place about 5 ice cubes in the jug.
Step 4
Put 30 g (1 oz) fine-medium ground coffee into the filter.
Step 5
Pour 100 g (3.4 fl oz) of hot water over it to pre-infuse for 30 seconds.
Step 6
Pour a further 300 g (10 fl oz) of water, slowly and in circles, to allow the coffee to infuse.
