Which is the difference between a steam iron and an ironing system?

Steam irons, the process which produces the steam takes place inside the iron, while in ironing systems it takes place inside the boiler. Ironing systems allow more autonomy in steam iron thanks to the vast capacity of the water tank and they assure almost professional results.

Why shouldn`t I use distilled water in my iron?

Accepted Answer

Distilled water has been identified to be more detrimental to the ironing system when used in isolation. It actually promotes corrosion more than tap water! The reason in simple terms is that distilled water is effectively looking to replace the natural minerals that have been distilled out and therefore attacks metal surfaces more aggressively. Distilled water also has a different boiling characteristic to tap water. A cold refill on hitting a hotplate at high temperature may give a greater degree of spitting. For these reasons distilled / purified water is not recommended to be used alone. However for very hard water areas there is a balance - we recommend that a mix of 50% tap, 50% distilled water can offer an improved situation.

An ironing system (also called steam generator iron) has a larger water tank and higher steam rate in comparison to a steam iron. The iron itself is attached to a separate base with water tank. It is designed for people who iron in bulk batches. A steam iron is more compact and easy to store.

Yes, is normal to occasionally hear an intermittently noise . This occurs when the water is pumped from the water tank into the boiler.

Additives/de-scalers/starch/scented water should not be used at all to avoid serious damage to the steam iron.

What kind of water can be used in irons and in ironings systems?

Accepted Answer

Our ironing systems have to be used with tap water.In case of very hard water (hardness above 27 &deg; F) we suggest using demineralised water (unscented) diluted to 50% in tap water. Never use chemicals or cleasing solutions (eg. scented water, essences, descaling solutions, etc.), mineral waters or other kinds of water (eg. rain water, water batteries, dehumidifiers).

Can I use mineral water in my iron?

No, this condensation water could have remnants of soap and other residues. This can damage the steam iron. Moreover, condensation water usually contains small textile fibres, which may block the anti-calc valve.In general, please use just tap water and only in case of very hard water, add 50% of distilled water.

Why does water leak from the iron when I start to use it?

This happens when: - the iron has been inactive for a long period and water got condensed inside the ducts; - this is the first use. In both situations, dispense the first quantity of steam outside ironing area, as indicated in the instruction manual. - The thermostat is set at a too low temperature, so the plate can not let all the steam evaporate. Plese consult the instruction manual to set the correct temperture for each garment.

How do you rinse the boiler in the ironing system and what is an ANTICALC System?

Rinsing must be done as follows: First make sure that the appliance is switched off and unplugged from the mains and that it is completely cold. Remove the protective cap on the side of the device, you can extract it using a coin or a screwdriver. Unscrew the cap of the boiler . Turn the appliance on its side and add water, around 0,7 lt MAX. Use a funnel to avoid spillages. Will the outlet covered, shake the device in order to rinse the entire boiler and then drain the water out into a sink. Replace the cap, ensureing it is tightened and replace the protection cap, if present. Before ironing, use the steam function to clear the whole system.

How can I keep cleaned the plate of my iron?

The cleaning of the plate has to be performed with cold and unplugged iron.Use a damp cloth without any chemical additive, as combined with others temperatures could damage the plate coating.Do not use any abrasive substance. The cleaning cloth has to be soft in order to avoid any abrasion or scratch.

White powder deposit on the soleplate is normal. It is the calcium deposit from the water you are using. You need to keep the iron clean and some of them are equipped with a self clean function.
