However if you wish to change the quantity of coffee delivered simply press and hold the delivery button until the required amount has been delivered then release the button. If you are setting one of the milk beverage drink buttons you will need to do this twice:  Press and hold the relative button to start programming. Release the button to stop the flow of milk and program the quantity. Press and hold the same button and release the button to stop the flowof coffee and program the quantity. To deliver the same drink, simple press the same button once and the newly programmed quantity of milk and coffee will be delivered.

This will froth the milk. Never heat the milk over 160 F / 70 C as this will affect the quality of the frothed milk. It is also possible to froth milk in this way for excellent hot chocolate and malt drinks. Each time you finish milk delivery allow a little steam to flush through the frother, and remember to clean the removable nozzles thoroughly.

Your espresso machine has an auto-off function that puts the unit into standby after a certain amount of time. Usually pressing the on/off button switches it back on. However if the steam button is also depressed the machine will go into safety mode and it will power off almost instantly when you try to turn it on. To stop this happening make sure the steam button is in the off position before switching your coffee machine back on. Your machine should now operate correctly.

If your machine is leaking from the traditional frother, please carry out the following simple checks: Disassemble the traditional frother as shown in your instruction manual and ensure they are completely clean and free of milk residue. Ensure the steam selector is fully close With a pin or similar, clean the inside of the traditional frother nozzle. Check both o-rings are visible and intact. If you have not descaled the machine, do so. If you are in a hard water area, this should be carried out every month or two, depending on how many coffees you make each day.

Some vibration is normal. If the pump espresso maker is vibrating too much please check the feet on the bottom are intact as these dampen the vibration. If this is on first use, and no water is coming out of the boiler head you may have an air block, and to resolve this you should open the steam valve until water starts to flow through the steam wand for at least 30 seconds.

Traditional pump espresso machines do not require the filter handle to be at a right angle in order to function normally. Tighten the handle firmly at a level you can manage and you will be able to make espresso. After two or three uses you may find the seal has softened considerably. As long as the handle is firmly attached when making coffee the machine will operate normally.

There may be too much coffee in the filter. It should be one level scoop for a single espresso. and two scoops for double. Make sure do not use the ESE pod filter with pre ground coffee. La Specialista Arte has a single heating system for coffee, hot water and milk beverages preparations. Although you cannot do these actions together, there is no waiting time in switching over from coffee to milk or vice versa. By having a Thermoblock heating system the temperature is accurate and stable for each function and the heat up time for the machine is still around 35 seconds. The grinder can be activated independently from the brewing and steaming functions, therefore you can steam milk while grinding and then brew as soon as milk is finished. The electronic temperature control of the Thermoblock allows the machine to switch automatically from coffee brewing temperature to steam temperature and vice-versa in a few seconds. This means that you can froth or steam milk almost immediately after delivering coffee, or vice versa you can deliver a perfect espresso almost immediately after frothing milk.
