Most coffee retailers offer a huge selection of brands at very competitive prices. Any good espresso is recommended. ESE pods are similar to a tea bag but are packed tightly with ground coffee and are an easy way of delivering excellent espresso coffee. These coffee pods are single portioned and require no manual tamping. Each one will deliver the same texture, consistency and flavour. Once used the pods can be composted, or added to your garden, as coffee provides good organic material for your plants.

How do I clean my automatic milk system?

After each milk preparation, it is essential to always carry out the cleaning of the milk circuit. Simply turn the dial to the clean or, depending on the model of your machine, pressing and holding the clean button for a few seconds. Doing so will remove any debris that may block the milk ducts . Keep the milk container lid clean by washing it in hot soapy water or in the dishwasher at least once a week. Ensure that the connector on the machine is also free from debris, paying particular attention to the o-rings on the connector. Descaling is required when the "Ready to start? (=20min)" message appears on your screen. The frequency of descaling depends on the hardness of the water in your area. It is always recommended to use the De'Longhi SoftBalls, perform the water hardness test and use our eco-friendly descaling solution, De'Longhi EcoDecalk The descaling procedure takes around 20 minutes to complete, so be sure to have enough time to finish the process. STEP-BY-STEP Guide: Important! Before use, read the instructions and the labelling on the descaler pack. It is important to use the De'Longhi descaler only. Using an unsuitable descaler and/or performing descaling incorrectly may result in faults not covered by the manufacturer's guarantee. If present, remove the SoftBalls before descaling the appliance. Buy now De'Longhi EcoDecalk Descalers and other products for coffee machine maintenance When the "Ready to start? (=20min)" message appears on your screen, it means that descaling is required. A descale cycle can be run at any time. Pull out and empty the drip tray, then insert it back in the machine. (REMOVE SOFTBALLS, IF PRESENT). Pour the descaler into the water tank up to the first level A marked on the inside of the tank; Add water up to level B. Now reposition the water tank in the machine. Make sure that the portafilter is not attached. Position a container under the coffee spout and the hot water spout, and another under the steam wand; Press "Yes" and the machine proceeds with descaling (approx. 20 minutes) Once completed descaler brewing, the appliance is ready for rinsing. Press “Continue”. The descaling programme starts and the descaler liquid comes out of the spouts. The descaling programme removes limescale deposits from the inside of the machine by automatically performing a series of rinses and pauses until the tank is empty. Empty the container used to collect the descaler solution and reposition it under the spouts. Remove the water tank, empty out any residual descaler solution, rinse under running water and fill with fresh water up to the MAX level. Return the tank to the machine. Press the ">" button. The rinse cycle starts. Once the rinse cycle has been completed, water will stop draining out and the machine is ready for use. Empty the containers used to collect the rinse water and place them back to the machine. Pull out and empty the drip tray, then reinsert it. Remove the tank, fill it with cold water and return it to the machine. Press “Yes” to confirm you are ready for rinsing. Rinsing starts. Once finished, press “Continue”. Extract and empty the drip tray assembly. Press “>”. Extract the water tank: empty and rinse, then fill it with fresh potable water. Press “Done”: appliance is ready to use and returns to homepage. The machine is now ready for use. Please note The descaling cycle can be started up at any time (even if the relative indicator is not yet on). You can start the operation from the settings menu.
