Ingredients

  • yeast: 2 1/4 tsp
  • water: 1 cup + 1 tbsp + additional if needed
  • sugar, olive oil: 1 tsp
  • bread flour: 3 cups
  • salt: 1 tsp
  • egg: 1

  1. Sprinkle yeast over water and stir in a small prep bowl. Stir in sugar and let sit for 5 minutes or until foamy. Stir in olive oil.
  2. In a separate large bowl, mix the flour and salt together. Add the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until mixed. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes or until dough bounces back when touched with a finger. In a clean prep bowl, add 1 teaspoon oil. Using the dough roll it around until bowl is coated with oil. Place dough ball in greased bowl, cover and let rise in a warm dry place 2 hours.
  3. Remove paddle from bowl.
  4. Form 6 rolls and place into the bowl. Close lid, and let sit for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, set the power level to position 4. Brush the egg over the rolls. Close the lid, push the bottom heating element on and turn on the machine. Let bake for 30-35 minutes until browned, shifting the rolls during cooking time so they are evenly browned.
