  • 300 ml of cream
  • 250 ml of espresso
  • Vanilla extract
  • A splash of rum (optional)

Combining the smooth texture of cream with intense flavors of vanilla and rich espresso, this cold coffee cream recipe is already a popular dessert in Italy and will soon become a favorite after-dinner treat among your friends and family, too.

Quick and so simple to make, you can prepare the perfect espresso needed for this dessert recipe using an automatic espresso machine or moka pot. If you love coffee desserts but don’t want to spend hours of preparation in the kitchen, a cold coffee cream provides the perfect solution.

An increasingly popular dessert in Italy, a drop of Rum can be added to give it more of a kick.


  • Pour 300 ml of cream into a container and pop it into the freezer.
  • If you are using a coffee grinder to grind your own beans, do so now.
  • Prepare 250 ml of espresso coffee.
  • Add rum to taste before putting this mix separately into the freezer.
  • Once frozen, cut the cream mixture into cubes and place this together with the vanilla extract into the blender so it becomes creamy.
  • Cut the frozen coffee into cubes and add to the blender mix.
  • Pour the creamy coffee mixture into coffee glasses and to finish, sprinkle with cocoa powder.
