  1. Brown the sirloin, cut into small pieces, in butter in a casserole dish, stirring from time to time
  2. Add enough water to cover, a clove of garlic, the finely chopped onions and two teaspoons of salt
  3. Cover the casserole and cook until the onions are tender
  4. Remove the meat and onions from the casserole dish leaving the sauce
  5. Add the flour, wine, oregano, pepper and coffee to the sauce
  6. Stir slowly until it thickens
  7. Put the meat and onions back into the casserole and cook over a low flame until tender


  • 1.5 kg sirloin steak
  • Water
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 3 medium onions
  • 2 tsp of salt
  • ¼ cup of flour
  • 1 cup of dry white wine
  • 1 tsp of dried oregano
  • ½ tsp of pepper
  • 1 cup of coffee
