Espresso Guide

Coffee grinding might sound simple, but it’s actually one of the most crucial steps in getting the best flavor and aroma from your beans. Take a look at some of our tips to master your grinding technique.

Follow these basic steps to make an espresso just as it should be; luxuriously creamy, with a kiss of foamy crema and a lingering aftertaste of coffee

Note: Whenever you adjust your grinder, adjust it one click at a time.

Step 1. Choose your coffee bean

Step 1. Choose your coffee bean

Choose a good coffee bean that is aligned to your taste palette, consider its roast date for freshness and roast level (light to extra dark). Store in an air-tight container and once opened use them within 2 weeks.

Step 2. Use great tasting water

Step 2. Use great tasting water

Water makes up the majority of an espresso, so make sure it’s fresh by replacing it every day. We recommend using a water filter to absorb bad odours and other contaminants for an authentic cup of coffee.

Step 3. Observe the flow of coffee

A crema should be a nutty, caramel-coloured and creamy on top of the coffee, it gives the espresso a fuller flavour and longer aftertaste. Results will differ depending on the roast and freshness of the bean.

Step 6. Clean the brewing unit

Step 6. Clean the brewing unit

If you’re finding your coffee tastes bitter or “not quite right”, it could be because there’s built up oils in the brewing unit. Rinse the brewing unit under hot water. Do not use detergent or any type of solvent.

You should do this monthly.
