Sweet and sour onions

  • Borettane (pearl) onions: 600 gr
  • Butter: 30 gr
  • Sugar: 30 gr
  • Balsamic vinegar from Modena: 50 g


  1. First peel and wash the onions.
  2. Insert the paddle in the bowl.
  3. Add the butter, close the lid, set the thermostat dial to position 4 and press the on/off button. The bottom heating element must be off.
  4. Melt the butter for 2 minutes.
  5. Add the vinegar and sugar and cook for another 3 minutes
  6. Then add the onions and cook for 30 minutes until they have reached the desired level of cooking (this can vary depending upon the size of the onions)
  7. They can be served as an antipasto or as an accompaniment to meat dishes.
