Ingredients

Italy’s greatest export: the Cappuccino. And what would we do without it? Whether you’re craving your morning fix or you’re in need of a post-work pick-me-up, this simple guide will mean you function as smoothly as the cappuccino you’re drinking. The cappuccino recipe is simply a coffee topped with cream or steamed milk and can be enjoyed before work or on a lazy weekend.

The name "cappuccino" presumably stems from the order of Capuchin monks. The precise reference is either to the hoods worn by the monks (Italian: cappuccio) whose shape resembles the bonnet of milk foam in a cappuccino, and the beige fabric they were made of  matches the ideal brown color of the beverage.

Method

  • Preheat your cappuccino glasses using the cup warmer storage on top of your coffee machine.
  • Set the water temperature to your preferred level and place your cups on the drip tray.
  • For an extra-frothy cappuccino, lower the steam spouts so they are as close to the cup as possible.
  • Enjoy!

The De'Longhi Magnifica can auto adjust the quantity of coffee for one or two shots of espresso, so if your home or office is made up of coffee drinkers who all prefer different strengths, you can easily keep everybody happy. Enjoy it piping hot, medium or low temperature.

USING DIFFERENT TYPES OF MILK

De’Longhi automatic espresso and cappuccino machines come with a jet frother which means less time making your cappuccino and more time drinking it, as well as giving you the option of steamed, frothed milk or both. Our collaborative Nespresso machine automatically froths milk with mess free espresso capsules: keeping your kitchen clean and tidy. Use whole milk for the most velvety rich taste or skimmed milk for a lighter option. Try with almond milk if you’re looking for a dairy-free, vegan alternative. A dash of cream will also make your cappuccino a bit more luxurious and indulgent.

The perfect cappuccino should have a smooth froth on top without any bubbles — the adjustable Automatic Cappuccino System combines steam and milk to create the thickest, silkiest foam, worthy of restaurant standard but in the comfort of your own home. Creating lots of cappucinos? Our De'Longhi stand-alone milk frothers can whip up a batch of milk in minutes, saving you time if you're serving to guests, an office or a party.
