  • Does the browning control relate to temperature or colour of the toast?

Browning control markings are indicative only. Setting ranges on toasters are optimised to consider all bread types used in market regions where the product is sold.

Control graduations serve purely as a users 'visual reference' to repeat toasting characteristics for a given bread and condition. The results will also depend on the thickness and freshness of your bread.

  • I love the De'Longhi toasters, but where can I buy a two slice model?

Unfortunately two slice models are not offered in the UK as demand is relatively low for these models.

Care should be taken if purchasing a two slice model from European shopping sites because the plug and voltage may differ from UK requirements.

  • My toaster is blowing fuses

If your toaster is blowing a fuse it may be worth checking there is not a piece of dried fruit from a tea cake or similar caught between the cage and the element. The water content in the fruit can often be the cause of this concern.

If you can see something caught, unplug the toaster and ensure it cools down completely, remove and empty the crumb tray. Tip the toaster upside-down and gently shake to remove the caught object.

Refit the crumb tray and plug in the toaster, it should now be ready to use again.

In the event that this has not rectified the problem please take your toaster to your nearest De’Longhi authorised service agent.

If your toaster is less than a year old, please remember to bring your receipt of purchase with you and the repair should be carried out free of charge under the terms of the guarantee.

  • Why does the lever not lock down into position on my toaster?

The lever may refuse to lock into position if there is debris trapped inside the toaster/carriage.  Please turn the toaster upside down and gently tap/shake to remove any debris.  If this does not solve the issue, please take the toaster to an authorised repair agent for further assistance.

  • How do I clean my toaster?

Before cleaning make sure you have unplugged your toaster and let it cool down. Then slide out the crumb tray, empty it and then replace.

Try to do this regularly depending on usage. Wipe the outside of the toaster with a damp cloth and then dry throughly.

  • What types of bread can I put in my toaster?

It is better to use slices of bread. Dry/stale bread toasts more quickly than fresh bread and thinly sliced bread toasts more quickly than thickly sliced bread. You may need to adjust the browning control according to the thickness and freshness of the bread.

You can also toast bagels and your favourite breakfast bread types.

  • My pump espresso machine is vibrating a lot. What can I do to rectify this?

Some vibration is normal. If the pump espresso maker is vibrating too much please check the feet on the bottom are intact as these dampen the vibration. If feet are damaged or missing placing a tea towel beneath the machine will dampen the vibration until the problem can be rectified.

If this is on first use, and no water is coming out of the boiler head you may have an air block, and to resolve this you should open the steam arm until water starts to flow through the steam arm for at least 30 seconds.

Older machines may require a descale. If none of these suggestions have rectified the problem please take the machine to your nearest service agent.

  • How do I descale my kettle?

To prolong the life of your new kettle descaling should be carried out on a regular basis. The frequency required will depend on your water hardness.

If you have particularly hard water (see the map on the right) we would recommend the kettle is descaled every month. For very soft water areas we would recommend that you descale your kettle every three months.

Care should be taken with proprietary kettle descaler as these could damage the surface finish of the kettle. Please ensure you follow the instructions carefully.

If you do not want to use a proprietary descaler we would recommend a solution of one part white vinegar and two parts water. Switch the kettle on, remembering to switch it off just before the boiling point. Leave the solution in the kettle for a while, dependant on the severity of the scale inside and then empty the kettle. Refill with fresh water, boil, empty and repeat this process once more. Your kettle can now be used.

If you have missed a descale it may be worth leaving the solution overnight.

  • My De’Longhi kettle is noisy. What can I do?

All kettles regardless of manufacture will make a noise whilst boiling. The noise level is determined by the power rating, the body material and the shape. A 3KW kettle in stainless steel will always have a noisier operation than a low power plastic type. Your kettle will get noisier as it reaches boiling point. Once your kettle has boiled the noise will abate.

If your kettle is older, descaling the kettle may reduce the noise.

  • My kettle has what looks like a rust deposit forming inside the kettle?

This is more than likely due to limescale build up. Limescale or staining from mineral deposits in some parts of the country can manifest itself as a brown deposit. Descaling your kettle should remove the brown deposit. To reduce limescale build up use filtered water.
